MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – It’s time to deck the halls for the holidays, but did you know your decorations could make you sick? Tim Kiser, with AdvantaClean of Coastal Carolina, was on News 13 now Thursday to explain, and give some tips on how to stay healthy.
Watch the interview for complete information, but some things to watch out for include:
- Christmas Tree Syndrome – your Christmas tree (real and artificial) could have mold aggravating allergies and asthma
- Coughing from Candles – they can emit chemicals and fumes that irritate breathing
- Fireplace Fumes – hidden cracks, creosote buildup and poor venting can cause carbon monoxide poisoning
- Proper Ventilation – modern airtight homes can be dangerous because of toxins and moisture that can lead to mold.
