Hotel fire in Myrtle Beach sends one person to the hospital

MYRTLE BEACH, SC. (WBTW) – Firefighters responded to a fire at the Ocean Reef Resort in Myrtle Beach early Tuesday Morning. The hotel is located on Ocean Boulevard near 71st Avenue North.

Crews on the scene report the fire began in a room on the 14th floor around 2:30 Tuesday morning.

Officers say a person came down to the front desk and reported that the room was on fire and someone was in the bed. When the fire department entered the room, they found a person unresponsive in the back corner of the room.

One person was transported to a local hospital.

Officials also say one person had a warrant out for their arrest, and was taken to Myrtle Beach jail.

The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
