CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – The Horry County Sheriff’s Office is asking parents to take a look at the sex offender registry online before sending their kids door to door this Halloween.

The sheriff’s office says there are currently 530 active registered sex offenders in Horry County alone.

People can view the registry online by visiting sheriff.horrycounty.org and clicking on the Sex Offender Registry link. When viewing the sex offender site, parents will have the opportunity to sign up for free automatic email notifications informing them when a sex offender moves within a specified radius of any address they register.  Citizens are encouraged to register all the addresses where their children spend a lot of time including friends, grandparents, or babysitter’s addresses.  The alerts are in real-time and sent out via e-mail as soon as a new offender has registered with the Horry County Sheriff’s Office.

For more information about the sex offender registry notification, you can call the Horry County Sheriff’s Office at 843-915-8573 or email at sexoffenderregistry@horrycounty.org.
