CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – The Horry County Police Department hired a new civilian Public Information Officer.
Krystal Dotson was born and raised in Myrtle Beach. Dotson is extremely knowledgeable about Horry County and is very active in the community. She has more than 10 years of experience in public service and community development within Horry County.
She joins the Horry County Police Department after working two years with the Myrtle Beach Police Department. She was responsible for that department’s proactive community relations, managed communication plans and multiple social media platforms for the department.
Dotson says she’s excited to serve as the first civilian to the Public Information Officer position for the Horry County Police Department.
“Great things are ahead not just for the police department, but for Horry County as a whole, and I am honored to be a part of such a wonderful team,” stated Dotson.
As the Public Information Officer, Dotson will release information about crimes in the county through press releases and public interest articles. She will also be responsible for managing the department’s social media pages and website, in addition to overseeing community outreach efforts on behalf of the department.
Dotson is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, DC. She starts January 9, 2017.
