Horry County police look for man wanted for breach of trust

CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Horry County police are looking for a man accused of taking money from people but never completing the job.

On Nov. 14 and Nov.17, officers with the Horry County Police Department took two reports of the same man accepting large sums of money for home construction projects he or his company, Myrtle Beach Homes and Commercial Real Estate LLC, never began work on.

Police are looking for 42-year-old Tony Eugene Davis of Surfside Beach. Between July 23 and Nov. 13, 2016, Davis accepted $8,500 and $4,400 from two separate victims, then terminated all contact.

One of the police reports says the victim went to the Horry County Government Building to see if the man was licensed and learned that Davis was not on their file.

Detectives have two warrants charging Davis with breach of trust.  Anyone with information is asked to contact local police.

Officers say that people should only deal with licensed, registered, and insured contractors and ask for references.  Contact your local Business License Office to check on a contractor.
