LORIS, S.C. (WBTW)-A sergeant with the Loris police department confirms a robbery happened around 2 a.m. on Monday at the McDonald’s in Loris. No one was hurt.

According to police reports, officers responded to the McDonald’s restaurant early Monday morning and found the safe open and three people in the freezer.

The official report said all three victims closed the store around 2 a.m. and when they were walking to their cars, they were confronted by two armed men wearing masks. The suspects ordered the three victims back into the store and forced them in the freezer. The victims did not want to open the freezer door and waited there until help arrived.

News13 was able to talk to one of the victims. She’s still very shaken up and said she’s physically fine but this will take a while to mentally get over.

The victim said she closed down the Loris McDonald’s and was walking to her car at 2 a.m. Monday. She heard one of the two other victims scream. She looked up and saw a black male running towards her windshield. She got in her car, locked the doors and the suspect held a gun to the window and told her to “unlock the door now.” Her manager tried to call the police then, but the suspect told her if the manager called the police, the victim we spoke to would be shot.

The suspect demanded she get out of the car. He forced the manager to unlock the McDonald’s and he quickly demanded money out of the safe. He told the manager if she didn’t hurry, he would shoot someone. The second robber then forced the three female victims into the walk-in cooler. The victim told us they were locked in there for two and a half hours.

“I was praying that someone was going to come find us and that when we heard the knocking on the door like them trying to get back in the door that it wasn’t them coming back to kill us.”

The victim we talked to was 17. She told us the other victims were 17 and 21.
