CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – On Sunday officers with Horry County police responded to the Conway Medical Center emergency room for a victim with a gunshot wound.

According to Raul Denis with Horry County police, the investigation revealed that the 18-year-old victim was shot by his father after an argument about going to the store for a can of tobacco.

Officers arrived at the hospital around 12:30 a.m.  and talked to the victim who said he was shot in the thighs and groin area with a shotgun loaded with bird shot at his home on Quiet Avenue.

According to the police report, the victim was moved to a different hospital to undergo surgery.

Forty-one- year old Thomas M. Lewis of Conway was arrested and charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.

Horry County’s J. Reuben Detention Center’s website shows Lewis spent 4 1/2 hours in jail before he got out on a $14,000 bond.
