Beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, the new middle school in  Socastee would include all neighborhoods currently assigned to Lakewood Elementary except for Cape Landing Apartments, Stonebridge, St. Charles Place, Kingston Ridge, Oak Forest and Harbour Town Subdivisions, which would be included in the Forestbrook Middle School attendance zone.CLICK FOR MAP: Proposed Changes for Students Currently Zoned to Attend Ocean Bay Middle School

The current proposal is to move approximately 814 students from the Ocean Bay Middle attendance zone to attend a new middle school in the Carolina Forest attendance area, which has not yet been named. The new middle school in Carolina Forest would include all neighborhoods currently assigned to Carolina Forest Elementary, as well as some neighborhoods currently assigned to River Oaks Elementary (Legends, Burcale Road area, Sago Plantation, Pine Island, and Emerald Lakes) and some neighborhoods currently assigned to Ocean Bay Elementary (Summerlyn, Plantation Lakes, and Waterbridge).  The remaining neighborhoods currently assigned to River Oaks Elementary would attend Ocean Bay Middle, as would the remaining neighborhoods currently assigned to Ocean Bay Elementary.
