An Horry County man was charged in connection to six robberies in the Longs and Little River areas.

Captain John Harrelson, of the Horry County Police Department, says 26-year-old Decorea Devon Gaddy faces five charges of strong arm robbery, two charges of simple larceny under $2,000, one charge of armed robbery, and one charge of attempting to defraud the South Carolina lottery.

Police reports say police responded to a larceny and robbery around 11:20 a.m. on June 6 at the Minute Man located at the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 905 in Longs. A victim told police she was the only person present in the store at the time of the robbery and another employee was outside cleaning. The victim says the suspect waited in line behind about two other people. When the victim opened the cash register, she says the suspect rushed to the counter, reached into the register, and took money. The victim grabbed the suspect and the suspect raised his fist in a “manner to suggest he was going to assault” the victim. The victim let go of the suspect and the suspect left the store. The suspect was seen by the victim leaving in a car, which was later identified by police as a 2005 Hyundai Elantra. Police are investigating to find the identity of the driver.

Police also responded to reports of a robbery at the Circle K on Highway 17 in Little River around 4 p.m. on June 6, according to the reports. The victim told police a black male entered the store and attempted to purchase a soda. When the suspect when to pay, he didn’t have enough money and left the store. The victim said the suspect did this twice before reaching over the counter and taking money from the cash register. The suspect then requested money from the safe. The victim gave the suspect the money and the suspect then left.

Police responded to a robbery on Highway 17 in Little River on June 6 around 9:30 p.m, the reports say. The suspect, described as a large-build black male wearing a black t-shirt and camouflage pants, purchased an item and paid in all pennies. He then knocked the cashier down, stole money from the cash register, and left on foot. Surveillance video showed the suspect getting out of the front passenger seat of a newer model dark-colored Chrysler 200. Two other suspects could also be seen exiting the same car.

Around 9 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a Dollar General on Highway 57 North in Little River for a reported robbery. Two victims told police a black male suspect, who was a regular visitor to the store, had entered the store, walked around the rear of the store, and took a drink from a refrigerator for purchase. The suspect then went to the cash register. When the cashier opened the cash register, the suspect took money from the register. He then asked another victim for “the rest of the cash.” The suspect was given the money and then he left the store. The victims also said the suspect had been in the store earlier that day to purchase cigarettes. The suspect’s purchase was denied by store employees because the suspect did not have proper identification. No weapon was used in this robbery, but a similar robbery happened at another Dollar General on Highway 17 around 4 p.m. on Friday, according to police.

Police also responded to reports of an armed robbery at the Days Inn hotel on Highway 17 in Little River on Monday around 5:30 a.m. A victim told police a man walked into the hotel “with a sock over his hand with an object that appeared to be a gun.” The victim also says the suspect requested “all the money”. The victim gave the suspect an unspecified amount of money and the suspect left.

Gaddy remains in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. He was previously booked for shoplifting on December 19, according to detention center booking records.

No information about other suspects or arrests has been released.
