NORTH MYRTLE BEACH (WBTW) – North Myrtle Beach Police arrested a man in connection with a deadly shooting at 37th Avenue South, and say he admitted to it not long after.

Public Information Officer Pat Dowling said it happened around 10 p.m. Thursday night.  He said a group of men flagged down an officer and said they’d seen the shooting.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge identified the victim as Aaron Chestnut, 33, of Loris. Chestnut died at Grand Strand hospital from a gunshot wound, Edge said.

20-year-old Keith Richard Curry of Longs was arrested in the shooting, and officers said he admitted to officers he shot Chestnut and then ran over his body with a vehicle as he was leaving the scene. Police said he then lead officers to the gun from Creekside Mobile Home Park.

Dowling said police are sure the shooting is drug-related and unrelated to Bikefest.
