MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Heavy smoke can be seen Wednesday afternoon near Highway 501 near Carolina Forest.
Firefighters are working “a large woods fire” behind the Gander Mountain store, according to a tweet posted at about 3:30 p.m. by Horry County Fire Rescue. The newly opened store is located at the intersection of Highway 501 and Carolina Forest Boulevard.
A spokesperson for Horry County Fire Rescue said no structures are in danger and traffic is not impacted.
Firefighters are hoping to have the fire out by about 6 p.m. once the forestry department comes in.
