Tuesday, Horry County Council held its first meeting since council vice chair Bob Grabowski’s death last week.

A single rose and black ribbon was left at the empty seat of district six; where Grabowski sat for the last few years.

Before the meeting, council chairman, Mark Lazarus, spoke on the man Grabowski was to council as well the people he represented.

“Don’t anybody ever forget that, or think differently of Bob Grabowski; other than his heart, his mind and, his soul were absolutely in the right place for the people of Horry County,” said Lazarus.

This is the third time in recent history council had a member die in office.

Horry County’s website lists the district six position as “vacant”

News 13 reported last week, a special election will happen in august to fill his seat.
