WAKE FOREST, NC — An employee of a Home Depot in Wake Forest is in critical condition after a customer punched him in the face during an argument, police said.
According to the Wake Forest Police Department, the assault occurred on Dec. 6 around 9:05 p.m. at the Home Depot located at 11915 Capital Blvd. Officers went to the store in response to a report of an assault.
Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears that Charles Sidney Mayo, 31, of Louisburg, argued with the cashier and then punched him in the face, which caused the man to hit the floor. Mayo then fled the scene, police said.
The victim was transported to WakeMed in critical but stable condition.
Mayo was arrested and charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
He is being held in the Franklin County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
