Home catches fire after lightning strike, fire chief says

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH (WBTW) – North Myrtle Beach fire rescue crews responded to a home that caught fire from a lightning strike Sunday evening.

North Myrtle Beach Fire Chief Gary Spain says crews were called out to a home under construction on Shell Creek Circle around 7:15 p.m.  Spain confirms there was no one inside the home when the home caught fire.

Spain says flames were visible from the roof when crews arrived.  The roof, attic and second floor were damaged in the fire.
