LORIS, SC (WBTW) – The Horry County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died in a crash on Highway 701 near Allsbrook as James Edward Oxendine.

Oxendine was 49 years old and from Loris, according to Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden.

The crash happened at about 5:45 p.m. on Highway 701 at Allsbrook Road. Oxendine was driving a Dodge Caliber heading south on 701 when he drove left of center and struck a Chevy Silverado pickup head-on, according to Master Trooper Brian Lee with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The Driver of the pickup was taken to the hospital. That person’s condition is not known at this time.

Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts, according to Trooper Lee.


LORIS, SC (WBTW) – Highway 701 in Loris is completely closed and officials are asking drivers to avoid the area.

A two-vehicle crash with injuries has caused rescue crews to close the roadway near 2245 S. Highway 701 in both directions.

Horry County Fire Rescue and SCHP are asking drivers to avoid the highway while they work on this emergency.
