EUCLID, OH – A high school football player in Ohio died after the team’s game Friday night, CBS affiliate WOIO reported.

Euclid City school district leaders said grief counselors will be at the high school Monday following the football player’s death.

Junior Andre Jackson, #48, was a FB/OLB with the Euclid Panthers, WOIO reported.

Jackson was taken to University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center after being injured during the game against the Comets in Solon. He died Sunday.

The Euclid School District released the following statement Sunday evening concerning Jackson’s death.

“Today, Euclid High School junior Andre L. Jackson passed away following an injury sustained during Friday night’s football game. Andre was a hardworking student-athlete that brought smiles to all those with whom he came in contact. The Euclid City School District would like to extend its deepest sympathy to the Jackson family during this horrific time.”

Details of his death have not been released.
