HEMINGWAY, SC (WBTW) – The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office arrested one man Wednesday after a special investigation conducted by the US Postal Service.
David Williams, 37, of Hemingway was charged with trafficking in cocaine and manufacturing and possession of other substances.
According to the reports from the Sheriff’s Office, Williams was accused of receiving narcotics in the mail.
On Aug. 31, agents watched Williams pick up a package from the Hemingway Post Office and arrested him when he tried to leave with the package.
When investigators opened the package, they found 6.5 pounds of marijuana. After searching Williams’ home, officers confiscated 1.5 ounces of cocaine, more marijuana, and $1,168.
Williams was able to post his $30,000 bond and was released from the Williamsburg County Detention Center.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
