MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The Help 4 Kids organization and News 13 sponsored a food drive today at the Garden City Walmart for children in need. Several members of the News 13 team were there working with volunteers to collect food items.
Volunteers Jill and Michael Formato say it is especially important to help children when school is out.
“They don’t have the necessities that the school can provide,” said Jill Formato.
Her son Michael is 14 years old and he says it feels good to help kids who are going through hard times, especially during the summer months.
Help 4 Kids holds food drives once a month and also collects school supplies, shoes and clothing. They help feed around 3,000 kids a week in Horry County through their Backpack Buddies program.
