CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit says they have have made several arrests this week after traffic stops.
Lt. Raul Denis with the Horry County Police Department says officers arrested 26-year-old Tashawn Williams of Myrtle Beach after they pulled him over for a traffic violation Tuesday night.
During the stop, a K9 officer alerted to the odor of narcotics in the car. A search of the car revealed a revolver, a pistol and substances believed to be cocaine and marijuana, reports say. Williams was charged with possession with intent to distribute Marijuana, possession with intent to distribute Cocaine, possession of a controlled substance (prescription), unlawful carry of a pistol and a traffic violation.
On Tuesday night at 10 p.m., officers stopped another car on Robert Grissom Parkway for a non-functioning tail light. The driver, David Chaput, 32, of Hickory, North Carolina told officers he did not have a valid driver’s license. Over the course of the investigation, officers found a white substance believed to be crack cocaine on 32-year-old Joshua P. Hinson of Conover, North Carolina.
Chaput was charged with no driver license and Hinson was charged with possession of crack, Denis says.
Thursday at about 8 p.m., officers saw an SUV cross the center line on Highway 57 in Little River, and pulled it over. Reports say when the officer searched the car, he observed syringes, a spoon, a cup of water, multiple drink caps, and loose cotton. Over the course of the investigation, officials noticed someone had dropped two wax paper slips on the ground. A search of the driver found more slips and a roadside test reflected the presence of Heroin, Denis says.
The driver, 65-year-old Dennis Libonati of Little River, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
