LORIS (WBTW) – Horry County Police are investigating an armed robbery by a man pretending to be a law enforcement officer Monday night.
According to Lt. Raul Dennis, officers responded to the home on Rhonda Court in Loris around 10:30 p.m. Monday, where people at the home told officers the man gained access to the home after he claimed to be an officer who was looking for someone specific. Police say once inside, two other suspects helped the man (who was armed with a gun) handcuff two people and put bags over their heads.
Police say a third person was forced to open a safe so that the suspects could take money and prescription drugs.
The victims were only able give descriptions for two of the three attackers involved. Police say they are described as a white man with sandy blonde hair who is 5’11” and was wearing dark blue pants and a black tactical vest and a white man who is 5″4″ and was wearing a mask and black and gray camouflage pants.
“(We) believe the home invasion in Loris last night was an isolated incident directed at a specific target,” said Lt. Denis. “We wish to alert the public that in most cases, Horry County Police will have a marked patrol car and/or uniformed police officers present when conducting such police warrant searches or searches, to avoid any confusion.”
