HARTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – The Hartsville Rescue Squad hosted its first ever community open house on Saturday to mark the end of National EMS Week.
People stopped by all afternoon for fun and games. There was free hotdogs, a bounce house, a and dunking booth. People also got the chance to tour an ambulance, learn CPR, and win raffle prizes. The goal of the event was to bring the community together but also to make people aware of the services that the rescue squad provides.
“We go out in the community and serve as EMTs and paramedics and provide backup to the Darlington County EMS. We also do CPR certification, first aid certification for anybody that needs it in the community,” said Hartsville Rescue Squad Chief Nita Coleman.
The Hartsville Rescue Squad has been serving the community for 60 years. The team is currently accepting applications for volunteers. You must be at least 18 years old to apply.
