Hartsville man killed in shooting, juvenile detained in case

DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -Deputies with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a deadly shooting near Hartsville Sunday afternoon.

Sheriff Wayne Byrd says it happened on the 500 block of South Fifth Street near Hartsville.

Deputy Coroner Todd Hardee identifies the victim as 34-year-old Quincy Richardson of Hartsville. Hardee says Richardson was pronounced dead at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville.

The coroner has ruled the death a homicide. Richardson’s autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in Newberry, SC.

A Juvenile was taken into custody Monday in reference to the shooting, according to a Darlington County Sheriff’s Facebook post. The juvenile is currently charged with Unlawful Poss of a Handgun, more charges are pending.

This incident remains under investigation by the Darlington County Coroner’s Office and the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.
