DARLINGTON, SC (WBTW) – A Hartsville man previously charged in a shooting on Mineral Springs Road faces additional charges, including six counts of attempted murder.

Starter Duke Byrd, 21, of Hartsville, was charged with shooting into a dwelling after the Saturday morning shooting.

According to Lt. Robert Kilgo with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Mineral Springs Road in Darlington after a gunman fired shots into a home. Deputies found the home had been hit by several bullets.

Lt. Kilgo says Byrd was involved in a fight just before the shooting. Byrd left the fight to go to his car and get a gun, deputies report, and then fired several times into the home. No one inside the home was hurt.

Deputies found Byrd at an area hospital where he went to get treatment for injuries he sustained in the fight. Deputies also found a gun in the car Byrd drove to the hospital.

Deputies have tacked on several charges for Byrd’s alleged actions, including six counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and pointing and presenting a firearm. After being charged with shooting into a dwelling, Byrd made bail Monday, which was set at $20,000.

Byrd was arrested again Thursday morning for the new charges.

Byrd is currently being held at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing for the additional charges.
