HARTSVILLE – Hartsville has built a great tradition in softball the last few years. New coach Jamie Horton hopes to keep that alive.
The Red Foxes introduced Horton as their coach Thursday. She replaces Bobby Sowell who retired this month. She’s been with the program since 2009, when she began as a volunteer assistant. Now she’ll have a chance to lead the program herself.
“After just one season with the program I knew that I wanted to eventually become a head coach, whether it was here at Hartsville High or whether it progressed on to somewhere else,” she said. “But I just got really lucky in staying here as long as I did.”
Hartsville has been to the state title series three of the last four years.
