MEMPHIS, Tenn (localmemphis.com) – There’s Memphis in May, Africa in April and now Memphis can add to that Snow in July.
Eight houses on Carr in Midtown Memphis saw the effects of this weather front caused by the Hallmark Channel.
The snow didn’t fall rather it was laid down on lawns as set dressing for the network’s upcoming film “Christmas at Graceland” shooting in Memphis.
Sources close to the production say it stars Kellie Pickler, co-host of the Pickler & Ben Talk Show, as a Chicago executive who comes to Memphis expecting to take control of a family business.
Hallmark wants to keep production under wraps going so far as to ask neighbors on the street not to post pictures to social media of the unusual sight.
That hasn’t stopped Midtown residents from snapping pictures and sharing the midsummer spectacle with friends.
Even if it’s not real, neighbors who came out for a peak say it’s a mind boggler.
The snow effect is created by rolls of cotton blanketing lawns with artificial snowflakes sprayed over it.
The homes even got their front porches deckedout in holiday decorations by film set dressers.
A person living on the block where the shooting is happening says one of the houses hasn’t really been decorated for Christmas in years, but the owner decided to roll out his own personal holly wreathes for Hollywood.
Snow anywhere in the Mid-South, regardless of the month is a thrill for eyes, but with or without snow Memphians are welcoming Hollywood to the Bluff City.
