PICKENS CO., SC – SC Governor Nikki Haley has declared a state of emergency for Greenville and Pickens counties because of the Pinnacle Mountain Fire.
The wildfire has increased in size and strength and spread to 6,000 acres.
Unfavorable weather conditions like high winds and low humidity will cause problems.
There have been evacuations and may continue.
Haley said in the order that the wildfire will require additional help beyond local and state agencies.
The governor is directing the SC Emergency Operations Plan be put in effect and is placing specified units of the SC National Guard and State Guard on state active duty.
The order took effect Tuesday and will last through midnight Dec. 7.
