A Conway man who was found dead at a Denny’s restaurant in Myrtle Beach Wednesday morning was killed by gunfire, police now say.
Garrey Sumter, age 44, was discovered just before 8:15 am in a vehicle behind the restaurant at 800 S. Kings Highway, said Lt. Joey Crosby of the Myrtle Beach Police.
Police were first called to the scene because a man was spotted unconscious in a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu.
“The complainant stated she arrived at work and observed the white vehicle in the parking space with blood outside the door on the ground,” according to a Myrtle Beach Police report.
Around 4:45 pm Wednesday police revealed they were investigating a homicide. Police said Thursday that the gunfire came from a handgun.
