Wastewater has spilled into the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in the Socastee area.
A press release from the Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority says the wastewater spill occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday due to a pipeline failure in Rosewood Estates.
According to the release, the spill flowed into the waterway “adjacent” to the Rosewood Boat Landing, located on Peachwood Court.
“The leak was isolated, the line was repaired and normal operations have been restored,” the release says. DHEC was notified of the spill.
