The Horry County Elections Office released updated election results on Wednesday afternoon following a night of uncertainty, when eight voting machines had battery issues and weren’t closed off properly.
Director, Sandy Martin says the county sent technicians to retrieve the machines and bring them to the voting office on Wednesday to try to get a more accurate count.
Council Chairman’s Race:
- Johnny Gardner: 12,350
- Mark Lazarus: 12,154
Horry County District 2 Race:
- Bill Howard:1,381
- Dean Pappas: 1,351
Martin says the results will be certified at 10 a.m. on Thursday, and recounts will be held on Friday because the state race takes precedence..
