UPDATE: The Georgetown County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identification of the man who died in Tuesday’s condo fire in Murrells Inlet.

Jacob Brandon Elliott, 30, died in the fire that broke out at about 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Neighbors said Elliot’s dog also died in the fire.

MURRELLS INLET, SC (WBTW) – One person died in an early morning condo fire in Murrells Inlet.

Crews remained on the scene Tuesday afternoon as the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and state fire marshals joined the investigation.

The fire broke out at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Allston House condo complex near Pendergrass Avenue.  

Murrells Inlet/Garden City, Midway, Horry County, and Surfside Beach fire crews responded to the call.

Murrells Inlet Garden City Fire Chief Norman Knight reported one fatality.

A fire marshal told News13 a dog also died in the fire. 

The fire started at the back of the condo, officials said. Photos show the charred frames that remain in the back of the structure. 

There is no official cause released, but the fire marshal said right now it’s considered accidental and not suspicious. 

The Georgetown County Coroner’s Office tells News13 the person’s identity should be released Wednesday morning.
