Unresponsive person pulled from submerged car in Surfside Beach pond

SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – One person was sent to the hospital after a car went into a pond in Surfside Beach.

Fire rescue was called at about 10 p.m. to the scene near Mon Cafe Japan next to the Surfside Walmart.

The person in the car was not responsive, according to Horry County Fire Rescue. Rescue workers pulled the driver from car.

The person was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center with critical injuries, according to Battalion Chief Charlie Nash

No one else was in the car.
