MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The Myrtle Beach Election Commission has certified the official results of Tuesday night’s local election.
Officials declared Mike Chestnut and Phil Render elected to council for four-year terms and that a runoff election between Mary Jeffcoat and John Krajc will be held on Nov. 19.
Commissioners verified and counted five additional ballots that were cast by qualified city voters. Here are the certified voted totals:

A candidate needed a minimum of 2,170 votes to win a seat outright. That number is determined by dividing the total number of votes cast by the number of seats available (three), and then dividing the result by two – plus one.
This will be Chesnut’s sixth term and the fifth term for Render. “I think downtown is a key part of what we’ve got to see get done and there’s a lot of other issues that are going on. We’ve got to continue to see the city continue to thrive and strike that balance between the business community and residential community,” said Chesnut.
“It’s a great time to be a member of Myrtle Beach City Council with so many positive projects on the drawing board. What we have to do now is define funding sources and prioritize which projects we want to move forward,” Render said.
