In what appears to be a major upset, Johnny Gardner cites victory over Mark Lazarus in the Republican primary race for Horry County Chair.
But Lazarus says the results are not official because not all votes are accounted for. He says he spoke to county voting officials who told him five voting machines had issues.
According to the county’s website, Gardner received 12,252 votes. Lazarus received 12,058. The website also says, “Unofficial Election Results – Some Votes Not Included In Results Below.”
Originally the website said all precincts had reported.
