United Way of Horry County announces new campaign chair, board members

The United Way of Horry County’s Board of Directors announced the organization’s new campaign chair and board members on Wednesday.

A press release says Edward Benton was voted by current board members as the 2019 Campaign Chair. Benton was born and raised in the Myrtle Beach area and is married with three children. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia in 2008 and currently works at C.L. Benton & Sons.

Three people will join the United Way of Horry County as new board members, according to the release. Don Bridwell, of Publix Coastal North, Gregg Turbeville, of Santee Cooper, and Brett Yates, of Merrill Lynch, were selected as the new board members.

The release also states the United Way of Horry County will continue to be led by Justin Lee, the Senior Vice President and Commercial Banking Director of Coastal Carolina National Bank. Lee accepted a two year term with the organization in 2017.

“United Way of Horry County is so grateful for each of these new members and leadership positions,” spokeswoman Julia Nichols says.
