CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – The beginning stages of the trial for the third and final man facing armed robbery and murder charges in the 2015 Sunhouse convenience store robberies begins this week.
The court began jury selection Monday for Jerome Jenkins, who is accused of robbing two Sunhouse store locations in 2015 and murdering two Sunhouse employees, Bala Paruchuri and Trisha Stull.
On Monday, the court narrowed the jury pool down from 400 jurors to 121.
Prosecutors say Jenkins worked as a team with two brothers, Mckinley Daniels and James Daniels to rob the stores and murder the victims.
In August of 2018, a jury found James Daniels guilty of murder and armed robbery, and he was sentenced to life without parole.
In January 2019, his brother, Mckinley Daniels pleaded guilty to murder and armed robbery and is also serving a life sentence.
Prosecutors accuse Jenkins of firing the weapon, ultimately leading to the death of the two Sunhouse employees.
The state will seek the death penalty against Jenkins.
