CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Saturday’s Military Appreciation Days Parade in Myrtle Beach not only has a Grand Marshal, but also an Honorary Grand Marshal who’s 98 years young.
Treva Greene lives in Conway now, but for two years and four months, from 1943 to 1945, she was a nurse in the Army during World War II and was stationed in France and England.
“I went to Lahar France, on the other continent. I served with the 121st Evac Hospital. We moved about every 10 days or two weeks taking care of the injured,” said Greene. “Actually we were assigned to the Battle of the Bulge, not permanently, but to be on their medical staff because they just got all the hospitals they could to join not knowing how many casualties were going to end up there.”
While in Europe, Treva said there were moments of laughter and moments to cry.
One thing that stood out was visiting Hitler’s hideout.
She also said she sailed to Europe on the Queen Elizabeth and came home on a cattle ship.
As for Saturday, she’s excited to be named the Honorary Grand Marshal.
“Well I’m thrilled they asked me, said Greene. “I feel like they should’ve got somebody else. This the last thing I can do for my country.”

It follows Pampas Drive, Howard Avenue and Farrow Parkway through The Market Common, which was the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base.
After the parade is the family picnic at Valor Memorial Garden.
