Tidelands Georgetown hospital to continue emergency care, inpatients to be relocated

Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital will continue to provide emergency care and inpatients will be relocated to another hospital during potential flooding.

According to a press release from Tidelands Health, floodwaters are not expected to reach Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital facilities, but the sewer station that supports the hospital will be impacted. Inpatients at the hospital will be relocated to Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital “for their comfort and continued care.” Outpatient areas at Tidelands Georgetown will continue to operate normally and the emergency department will remain open.

The release also says flooding is not expected to impact Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital and operations at the hospital will continue as normal.

According to Carl Lindquist, with Tidelands Health, a medical evacuation order issued by DHEC only applies to inpatients at the hospital and not emergency department operations.
