A popular Surfside Beach restaurant is now back in business after a fire nearly ruined it more than a year ago.
The Pickled Cucumber reopened Thursday morning.
Husband and wife owners Eddie and Nadia Batson kept the soft opening quiet, only announcing the reopening on Facebook Wednesday night.
People who call the restaurant their favorite were thrilled to be back to order a meal today.
“The squash casserole is my absolute favorite. It’s just like my grandmother used to make. I feel like I’m at home when I’m eating it here,” said customer Susan German.
“Just being back in Surfside and you know, the people supporting us so much, and we’re just glad to be back here. It’s been a long time. The town of Surfside has been great to us, the people have been great to us. Just glad to be back open,” said co-owner Eddie Batson.
