Surfside Beach police officer and another driver taken to hospital after crash

SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A Surfside Beach police officer and another person were taken to the hospital after a wreck on Monday night, police chief Kenneth Hofmann confirmed to News13. Neither had life-threatening injuries, Hofmann said.

The officer was driving from Highway 17 Business near 15^th Avenue North onto the frontage road when another driver failed to yield, Hofmann told News13, and “t-boned” the patrol officer’s car. The crash happened at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Hofmann said the officer and driver were taken to the hospital to be checked out.

According to Hofmann, South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
