SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Surfside Beach has announced its pick to be the town’s next administrator.
Mayor Bob Childs tells News13 Dennis Pieper has accepted the position. Pieper currently serves as the town manager of Fort Mill, SC.
Childs says Pieper’s starting salary will be around $104,000 per year. He is expected to start in his new position on July 16.
Pieper was chosen from about 60 applicants, according to Childs. Surfside Beach Interim Town Administrator Jim Duckett will continue in his role until Pieper begins work.
According to Fort Mill’s town website, Pieper has a Master of Business Administration from Southern Wesleyan University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and E-Commerce. Pieper has worked as a manager in South Carolina’s public sector for more than 25 years, according to the site.
