SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Surfside Beach town council picked on Monday a plan for its new concrete pier, replacing the pier destroyed by Hurricane Matthew.

The pier project will have three single-story buildings, including a restaurant, a tackle stop, and an undetermined business, Mayor Bob Childs told News13. The restaurant will have a deck.

All of the buildings will be built so that a second story can be added, Childs said.

Surfside Beach will receive $9.75 million from FEMA to rebuild the pier.
