MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Shortly after 10 a.m. Monday, students were allowed to return to Myrtle Beach High School following a bomb threat, police say.
Numerous law enforcement agencies were called to Myrtle Beach High School Monday morning after a bomb threat was made, but neither police nor school officials have commented on how the threat was made.
A message posted Monday morning to the Myrtle Beach High School Facebook page says police were investigating an alleged bomb threat and all students were being staged at the new Myrtle Beach Middle School. Several law enforcement agencies, including Myrtle Beach police, conducted a sweep of the high school.
Myrtle Beach police asked that all high school students report to the middle school Monday morning.
According to Captain Joey Crosby with the police department, officers and agents from SLED, North Myrtle Beach, Horry County police, and K9 units responded to the school. Once the building was cleared of any potential danger, staff and students were allowed to return.
Parents who wish to pick up their children early from Myrtle Beach High School are asked to give police and school officials enough time to get students settled before arriving at the school.
