MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The Fort Bragg soldier accused of murder in the shooting death of a Myrtle Beach woman in January committed suicide, officials confirm.

Chandler Dunmeyer was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. According to Myrtle Beach police, Dunmeyer shot and killed 20-year-old Colee Muirhead, of Myrtle Beach, at the Beachcomber Motel on Jan. 24.

Video shows Dunmeyer entering room 203 of the Beachcomber, staying for a brief time, and leaving the hotel. City cameras show Dunmeyer leave Myrtle Beach on a motorcycle.

In April, bond was set at $45,000 for murder and $5,000 for the weapons charge.

According to Dorchester County Coroner Paul Brouthers, Chandler Ari Dunmeyer died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Dunmeyer died at 5:05 p.m. Sunday in his home. The coroner says Dunmeyer’s mother found him.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
