Grand Strand Freedom Week continued today with a small business workshop at the Myrtle Beach Train Depot.

The workshop aimed to help small business owners and aspiring entrepeneurs take their business to the next level with help from government agencies.

Presenters from the local, state and federal level attended to showcase the “equal opportunity to win” government contracts.

“Small businesses are important to our economy. It’s the mom and pop shops that help our community to grow,” Ann Sowers, buyer for the City of Myrtle Beach, said. “Tourists, visitors don’t come here for chain stores that they can get in their hometown. So, we want to encourage that local flavor and that helps our community grow, it helps our residents, it helps our economy.”

Grand Strand Freedom Week continues through Saturday.
