According to a report from the Horry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies went to the house for a “probate pickup order.” When deputies arrived they knocked on the door but no one answered. They went to check the back of the house and when they returned to the front one deputy heard the door lock. Deputies then called out to the person to open the door, identified themselves and said they needed to talk.
According to the report, the person yelled that he hasn’t done anything wrong and he isn’t going anywhere. Deputies tried to deescalate the situation as help arrived. Eventually, a mental health specialist with the Horry County Police Department arrived and took the lead in trying to talk with the person.
News13 viewers reported seeing a large law enforcement presence in the area of Lilly Naz Lane Wednesday evening around 6 p.m.
Brooke Holden with the sheriff’s office said both departments were working an ‘active situation’ in the subdivision. The situation has since been resolved without incident.
