The Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority says bacteria levels are below requirements following a wastewater spill in the Socastee area.

A press release says sampling results from Friday confirmed bacteria levels were below the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control’s requirements for recreational waters.

The wastewater spill happened around 9:30 a.m. on July 29 due to a pipeline failure in Rosewood Estates, according to the report.. The wastewater flowed into the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway adjacent to the Rosewood Boat Landing, located on Peachwood Court.

As a result of the spill, a public notice for potential contamination was issued. This notification was rescinded on Monday.
