CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Volunteers from Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian relief group, have traveled from across the U.S. to help Horry County residents mud out and clean up their flooded homes.

“People in other houses see these orange shirts, and they come out and ask us, you know, ‘what are we doing,’ and it’s hard for them to believe that we do this for free,” Victor Floener, a volunteer said.

Floener has been working with Samaritan’s Purse for 13 years, and traveled all the way from Clearwater, Florida to help clear and mud out a home on Bradford Circle in Conway.

“We’ve come from all over the United States to help this woman who, we don’t even know who she is. She just needs help, and that’s all we need to know,” Floener said.

Samaritan’s Purse volunteers say it takes them around one to two days to clean and mud out a home, depending on how extensive the damage is.

They have been working on the home on Bradford Circle on for the past two days. Volunteers were able to help the woman who lives there after it flooded- in some parts, with 14 inches of water.

“She saw us walking down the street in our orange t-shirts, and she was just overcome with emotion, with the work that we’re able to to help them with that they aren’t able to do themselves,” Alyssa Benson, a spokesperson with Samaritan’s Purse said.
