NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The North Myrtle Beach Humane Society will host the 6th Annual “Run for the Shelter” 5k and 1-mile dog walk and the event will benefit the shelter.
The event will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 9 a.m. at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex, according to a press release. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach “in its efforts to provide shelter and vet care to homeless pets in the community.”
Registration can be found online here.
“The Run for the Shelter Event is a great event for the entire family – both two legged and four-legged family members,” said Tina Hunter, Executive Director of The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach. “It’s a great way to get the family outside to enjoy the spring weather and help us raise the funds needed to care for our community’s homeless pets.”
Hunter also said the shelter’s homeless pet intake is up from 2018.
“Our homeless pet intake is already up 17 percent over 2018, so we need the community’s support more now than ever,” she said.
The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach is located at 409 Bay Street. For more information, visit the shelter’s website here or call 843-249-4948.
