SOCASTEE, SC (WBTW) – Neighbors in Rosewood are watching waters rise again, less than three months since floodwaters from Hurricane Florence destroyed many homes in the neighborhood.
“There was no warning this water was coming. We have no clue how high it’s getting, what’s going on with the water; why it’s back,” Melissa Krupa, a Rosewood resident said.
Many Rosewood neighbors have already started rebuilding their damaged homes, and some worry they’ll have to start over.
“What if the water comes fast and I don’t have a chance? It’s not just me, I have animals. It’s not just the next neighbor, they have kids. It’s many of people that are in trouble, that are in danger, that don’t know what to do,” Krupa said.
Neighbors in Rosewood said when they tried to go to Horry County for help, they were told to call their county councilmen.
This Wednesday at 6 p.m., Rosewood will host a meeting for all people affected by the flood in Horry County. The meeting will take place at 4799 White Pine Dr. in Rosewood. One member of Horry County Council will be in attendance.
“I figured one voice ain’t enough, so if we all come together, maybe that will jumpstart things; maybe we’ll get some answers. I mean, that’s all I can hope for right now,” Krupa said.
