HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – With the last two weeks of rainfall, WBTW checked in to see if some of the Ride II road improvement projects have been affected.

Both the Highway 31 extension and the Highway 707 widening project have experienced previous delays because of winter weather and heavy periods of rain.

Despite the recent rain on the Grand Strand, Kelly Moore with Horry County said the project should still be on time. “Weather does impact the ability of the contractors to do things like paving on those projects, but right now, we don’t anticipate any additional delays,” said Moore.

For Highway 31, crews are still working on things like curb and gutter installation, and some final touch ups to the road itself. Moore said for Highway 707, similar things tasks need to be completed. “That project is about 77 percent complete overall,” said Moore.

“You’re going to see them continuing to do some paving, also installing some draining and some gutters on the side of the road, as well as the overhead signage.”

Moore said as of right now, both projects are expected to be finished by October or November.
